How to Dress Appropriately For A Wedding

Still unsure of what to wear to a wedding? Dressing for weddings in the Philippines can be a little tricky so we’ve rounded up some key tips in dressing appropriately for the occasion.
STEP AWAY FROM WHITE
Most brides getting married in the Philippines are sure to wear white so do them a favour and never wear anything purely white or anything remotely as light and can pass as a wedding gown -- even if it’s a cocktail dress, step away. If your outfit has a bit of white in it, it’s fine… just avoid upstaging the bride and you’re set.
FLIP FLOPS?? ON ONE CONDITION.
Have mercy on us all, do not ever wear flip flops! If you wear them in a city wedding, it won’t only affect the atmosphere of the reception but you can also embarrass yourself in the process; it’s a two-way street you want to avoid at all costs. The only acceptable time to wear flip flops is during a beach wedding since it’s impossible to maneuver through the sand with heels.
SHORTS? FORGET ABOUT IT.
Both for men and women, shorts are frowned upon in formal events also in church. Do yourself a favour and be allowed in by ditching the shorts; doesn’t matter how expensive or whoever designer it’s from, don’t wear it.
HOW MUCH SKIN IS ALLOWABLE
Calling all hubaderas, as much as we want to be liberal and wear anything we want… this is a wedding, after all, a wedding in the Philippines. Most churches have strict dress codes so you want to make sure you’re allowed in and avoid causing a scene but don’t worry! You don’t need to completely ditch the hubadera in you, just know your limits. There are many cute outfits that show an okay amount of skin so you don’t need to cover everything from neck down! Balance is key.
