Wedding Dress Necklines: How to Choose Yours

Wedding Dress Necklines: How to Choose Yours

By Apple M. Bruselas

Wearing the best suited neckline works wonders! They are subtle yet highly impactful so when checking out wedding gown designs, try focusing on necklines and what body shape works with them. We’ve come up with a list for you to go over and consider which might work best for you.

1.) The V-Neck

As what the term suggests, it’s a v-shaped neckline that can also be applied to the back part of the dress. It’s mostly flattering to any shape.

2.) The Jewel

It goes around the neckline sitting on the base of the throat, almost like a choker. This is perfect for smaller chested women as it has a tendency to accentuate the chest area.

3.) The Strapless

Strapless necklines accentuate the collarbones and shoulders which makes it an ideal choice for bigger chested women.

4.) The Halter

It’s usually a high neck type that is perfect for tall women and with broad shoulders.

5.) The Scoop

It forms a U-shape that can also be applied to the back. This is also a universally flattering neckline.

6.) The Sweetheart

The top half of the heart is the shape of this neckline and it accentuates a woman’s cleavage.

7.) The Sabrina / Bateau

The bateau, also called a boat neck, follows the collarbone curve. It’s also fondly called “The Sabrina” after Audrey Hepburn & Hubert de Givenchy’s iconic dress in the film, Sabrina. The neckline is usually perfect for smaller chested women.

8.) The Portrait

It’s a wide soft scoop that goes from the tip of one shoulder to the other. It’s best for those who want to cover their arms.

9.) The Off-the-Shoulder

It’s similar to the portrait neckline but that it sits below the shoulders, emphasizing them and the collarbone. It’s best for full chested women but regardless, it suits almost all body shapes.

Remember that these are mere guidelines. If you’re feeling adventurous, go try them all out and see what you feel best in! Getting married in the Philippines?
